Title says it all looks like hell, but has one of the sweetest SA triggers I have ever felt must be 2lbs or less! I thought it was a great deal for 200$ regardless of looks, and you know the ugly ones have to go the extra mile anyway so she's good in my book. Serial # 1K804XX can anyone date that? Thanks 31K

A great working gun. Shows character. You don't have to be concerned about carrying it or shooting it.

That's a 1971 vintage according to the SCSW. At least you don't have to worry about shooting that one. It looks good to me.

Nice find for tackle box or walking thru the woods gun..

I have her twin except it's a 19-5. Condition looks identical to yours and also like yours, hands down the best DA trigger pull in my stable. All of my other S&W shooters have reduced power main springs and rebound springs and I've polished the internals to the best of my abilities using the Kuhnhausen manual but I can't acheive the glass smooth pull of this gun. Whoever did the trigger job was a master- the springs are stock with a couple of coils trimmed off of the rebound and shortening of the strain screw to lighten the pull. I did have an occasional ftf in DA using CCI primers, but once I switched to Federals it shoots like a dream. I've wondered if the bluing on it wasn't dulled intentionally to keep down glare for "combat" shooting.
I've easily shot 3000+ rounds through my 19 snubby in the two years I've owned it. When it's time to shoot she never gets left on the shelf. Enjoy!!!

Congratulations on your find. I think it was a great deal and I would have jumped on it. If it were mine, I'd shoot it and carry it for a while and then maybe send it off to S&W for refinishing. But that's just me.

Congrats on your addition. I picked up a rode easy and put away wet Model 36 for under $200 last month. Cleaned it up and put on a set of stocks I just refinished. The old ones were chewed up and dried out (brittle). Opposite side from photo shows a little more rust pitting. I don't believe it was ever shot much. Passed the used revolver test with flying colors. It's a joy to shoot and rekindled my love for the Model 36, just like the Model 28, and the Model 15, and ........................

Excellent deal! 15s are generally great shooters, and it sounds like the action on yours is extremely nice. The finish doesn't look incredibly bad in the photos, it may be worth spending a few evenings with some oil and bronze wool or OOOO steel wool, followed by a few light applications of Mother's Mag Polish. Can't hurt it, and may improve the looks a surprising amount. Enjoy your new gun!

I have bought several "character" guns like that in the past and I never did regret getting any of them.I would like to find a M15 like that deal. I have a M15 4" that looks almost new until you look close and see the pits from improper storage. It sure is a good shooter though and it was priced right.
