Choices and opinions
So, I put a post on here a few weeks about about the Model 57 I scored, never been fired for $500. It shot well the other day and had a nice grouping! Well, I am torn, I am meeting with the seller again tomorrow, hopefully to purchase another piece. They are all about the same shape, never been fired or shot very, very little....
Which one do I buy?
Nickel 4" model 19-3 for $400
Model 25-2 for $600
Pre model 25 for $800
Colt 70 series blued for $800
I meet with him in 11.5 hours. Opinions please?

Yeah, if I only had the money to buy them all......My dad will probably buy a Magna 629 from him, if not one of the others mentioned.

Of the four, the model 19 is probably the best deal and cheapest to feed (.38 Specials). The model 25 would be next in line; the pre-25 1955 Target gets into collector territory as does the Colt. Please post a photo of the winner...

IMHO for shootability the 19-3 as Alan pointed out. For collectablility the pre 25. For a door stop the 70 series Colt.

I think I'd go for the 19, especially if it's a nickle one. The shop where I buy most of my guns had a 19-3 in the case not long ago, no box or anything, just the gun. They had a price tag of $729.00 on it. I don't know what they got for it, but it's gone now.
Plus the 19 is just a great gun.

nib nickle 19 would get my vote. i think 19s are climbing in value faster than any other smith at the moment. and a perfect older nickle one is icing on the cake!
we need pics for sure!

Bought it!
Bought the 19-3 for 4 bills. Maybe been fired once....maybe. No box, papers or anything, but it is 99%+. DOB '73. Thanks for the input from everyone. I was pretty sure I was going to get the 19, but thought about the 25-2 since I have a good stash of .45. Wanted others opinions.
My dad bought the 25-2.....I am sure that has never been fired other than at the factory. Same shape as the M57 I bought a few weeks ago. He got presentation box, missing a couple tools and no velvet. Nary a turn line in the cylinder, no scratches or dings and covered in a light film of oil for 6 bills. DOB '75-'77.
Thanks again and enjoy the attached pics!

A very good deal, sir. Easily worth $550-600. Joe Cebull will restore the box for you so that you'll never know it's been re-done. He's a member here. PM me for his contact information.
