Default FINALLY.....I got a model 27!!!!

I found this today.....talked to the shop about it and decided I had to have it. I wanted one for SO long. Its nice to finally quench the the first for a N frame 357. Currently I had a 686-3, which is a nice gun, but to me, not the same. I am elated to have made this find. I know its not a rare gun, but the nickel finish at least makes it a little uncommon. I am going to end up getting it for $575 OTD which seems to be a good price. The gun was on consignment for a 97 yr old who still shot his guns. It has almost no wear, just needs cleaned because it has some "dull" spots. This will go perfect with my 29-2 6 in nickel.

They said the SN is N628XXX - should this have a presentation case or a blue box?

Why was the link deleted? Sounds like the auction was over. Or isn't the gun in the auction the one he bought?

The 27s came in the case starting in 1975 but there is no guarantee it's still in one if shipped that way. If the seller didn't mention the case I wouldn't look for one.

The moderator did not understand that if I bought the gun in the auction, that no one else can buy it = dead/closed auction. The mod looked at it on the surface and made a quick decision.

The link was to a live auction. I deleted the link because of that reason. People we have rules and I am asked to enforce them. Saying that I wasn't thinking when I did so is insulting. Read the rules please.

Default Model 27??? Got one?

Irregardless of what happened here.... When I'm 97 years old, or close, if I can still shoot and the Government, if we have one, allows it, I will be one happy old fart Kyle

Well, I could not resist, don't mean to be cruel but untill you get yours here is a pic of my newest find to tide you over.
This one is a bit earlier, S/N N420xxx but probably a close twin.
Hope your deal works out.

The model 27 is on my list. I was just going to go out and buy a brand new one...........until I started lurking on this site. Now it seems that I'll have to do my homework. I have heard that the new model 27s are not as good as the old model 27s. Is that true?

This is my current favorite shooter. 8 3/8" 27-2.
125gr JHP over 8.4gr Unique is verry accurate in this.

Will Carry, go with a P&R original, you'll never regret it. I have one & at one point owned two (both 3 and 1/2 inch barrel - one blue, one nickle). When I first started looking for one in the mid-90's I ran across a 1993 or so limited re-issue, but IMO it didn't compare to the originals. Can't imagine the newest is any better. Take your time to search for a good one and your money will be well spent - I promise.

The grand old Model 27 is the queen of large frame 357s. I wouldn't want to be with one (or several). Congrats on yours. I hope it brings you as much pleasure and pride of ownership as my 27s do for me.

It took me 46 years to finally break down an buy a 27 and I bought two in the same day.

These things can be dangerous to your bank account.

+ 1 with Iggy. Just complteted my sting of 27's two weeks ago at the Yuma show. I was able to snag the last 27 I needed a 6 1/2" blue gun with diamond target stocks.

I've got a pre-27 5" and a 27-6 6". I need more. Does anyone know if the new Classic series 27's have all the nice checkering on top?

Here is my gun since my first post violated the rules because the seller did not yet close the auction. I hope to get it in a week or so.
