I have the factory grips on the 19 and can't really seem to find a good way to load the gun with my speed loader. It is for the right gun but it seams like my grips are in the way. Do you guys know of any wood grips that I can buy to fix this problem? Thanks!

If you have the larger Target stocks, the last version produced had a semi-circular cutout on the left panel that clears most speed loaders. The earlier K frame target stocks had a smaller "football" or extractor cutout.

The wood Hogue Monogrip style stock also has enough clearance, as does the smaller factory Magna style.

On my 29-2, I have to rotate the cylinder a little to get the speedloaders to go all the way in. You may try that to see if it helps. Good luck.

Speed strips are a good alternative to the speed loaders when you have a grip interference problem.

I tried everything that I can to get the speedloader in there as fast as I can but I'm still way too slow for any type of reloading during a shootout. But after a very informative PM. I order some rosewood grips that has the proper cut outs for my speedloaders.



Spoke with the nicest lady that I have ever talked to on the phone and she said that I should have them on my doorstep by Monday

And I tried the whole speedstrip thing but I just couldn't get fast enough to for me to carry it. That was a huge reason why I moved away from wheel guns. But now since I have guns that can use speedloaders, I feel a lot better in carry them.

I checked your other thread, and the grips are indeed your problem. They were made before speedloaders became popular. But keep them! If you ever sell the gun, they should go on it.

I use Pachmayr Presentation grips on my M-66. If you don't like what you get in the mail, try those. They are not only made for speedloaders; they fit my hand exceptionally well. I prefer the old two-panel style, which you can find at gun shows. They often sell for $5.00 to $10.00. But they feel terrific on the gun, and absorb Magnum recoil better than wood grips do.

If you have never shot a .357, be prepared for some recoil. But the gun is tremendously versatile, and for many years, was probably the gun that most knowledgeable handgunners would choose, if limited to one. Just don't let lead deposits coat the forcing cone in the barrel, and don't use the full power 125 grain and lighter loads. They may crack your barrel throat, especially if any lead has built up there. Normal cleaning takes care of that, but do it! (Some people are lazy.)

Congratulations on a great gun at an exceptional price. Just shoot mainly .38 Special ammo in it, saving .357's for occasional use, and carry when that power is needed.
