Default price check 19-3 .357 mag. 6 inch barrel

Just bought a 19-3 .357 mag, with 6 inch barrel. Blued with adjustable sights. BRAND NEW with box and wax paper, and no paperwork. Called Smith and Wesson with serial no. and it was made 1975. Wondering what it's current value would be.. I paid $450 for it.

Around $550. Not quite as popular as the 4"ers.

I would definitely give $450.00 for that package. About 3 years ago I got a 98% 19-3 6" blue with no box or extras off GB for $330.00. That was only because it was improperly listed and did not get much attention. Properly listed and if it had the extras it was a $450.00 package 3 years ago.

My brother in law set up some old fire extinguishers on a mound at a range-finder measured 110 yards. With my fifth round using factory magnums (don't remember brand) I knocked one over with the 6" 19. It is a very enjoyable gun to shoot.

Hi,
That is a fair price for a unfired M19. I purchased a M19-4 6 inch without a box or papers for $269 out the door. It is a shooter that was not taken care of and had minor rust. I have cleaned the revolver up and is one of my best shooters. I have a photo of the revolver after I clean it up. I would say you did well.

I have been looking for this gun that you have purchased for months for my father. He used it as a rookie cop and would really like one of any one has a lead on one!!

You did very well.......

the 6" will do a little better at the longer ranges than a 4" or less.
I shot a lot of 38 special and a lot of 158 gr jacket and lead SP or hollow point magnum reloads, since they were cheap back in the 60's. It is a "Magnum" go big bullets.

Later found out that the 140 XTP was also a very accurate bullet in my M19 6" for light target loads.

Good shooting.

$450; I think that you got one heck of a deal.

I just noticed that this thread is from 2010. I suspect a model 19 in the box was well worth $450 even then.

2010 was a long time ago in terms of pricing. I bought a like new in the box 6" M19-3 about that time for $350.

Edited to add:
I checked and found out that I bought it in 2005. How time flies!
Second edit:
And mine did come with a box!

Yeah, I started reading and thought some of these replies were from people living in fantasy land until I saw this was a post from 5 years ago. Today , A mint , unfired, pinned / recessed Model 19 in the box....
$ 795 ....IF you can find one.

In CA add about $300 to $400 more. My local Sacramento area gun shop had a S&W 19-2 4" barrel manufactured in 1963 with Pachmayr grips in about 97% condition listed for $825 and it was sold by the end of the week. Model 19's never last long when offered for sale in California. Too hard to find in any condition.

There is a 6" TH/TT Target stocks 19-4 calling my name at our LGS. Asking price is $609. No box/papers but is in really nice shape. I think that is an okay price these days. It will probably follow me home after another day or two of looking at it.

I would say you got a good to very good deal. Had I been in the market for one I would have paid that without a second thought.
