Hi, All Have a 25-5 8&3/8" 1980 or 1981 pinned Bbl. Anyone know what performance ammo can be used safely in this revolver? Looking at 45 colt in buffalo bore they don't recommend it. Shooting Cowboy loads in this would just seem wrong. Thanks in advance.
There are quite a few good options for your revolver.
For all around purpose when I used to use a 45 Colt
was Winchester 255 gr RNL (the original load that
gave the 45 its excellent reputation.) The Super X Load
not the "cowboy load," catalog number WNX45CP2. Accuracy, penetration, and knockdown power were good.
Silvertip, PDX1, Gold Dot etc are all offered in 45 Colt
if you care for a hollowpoint. For hunting or larger critters,
Remington's 225gr LSWC would work well- (R45C1).
