Model 14-2 nickel 6" ...should I buy it?...UPDATE>>> don't worry...I bought it!!
Hi all,
I saw something that doesn't come up much here in Australia...a Model 14-2 Nickel 6". I am waiting for them to call back with the serial number.
Any idea how many of these were made and when the -2 came in and changed to -3?
Also ballpark value?
Thanks
Mike

Depends on condition. If the condition was like new, it would probably sell for $750 and up here in California where guns are pricey. Likely a little less in the unrestricted states. If the nickel needs refinishing, that would probably knock a couple hundred off.

I always think of the Model 14 as a Target "only" gun, and for a Target gun my preference would be a blued version. My .02 cents..........

The 14-2 started production in 1961 and the -3 in 1967.
A factory nickel gun is listed in the SCSW as "rare" but only rates a "slight premium"; hard to tell what that means. If it is in collectible condition, perhaps add a percentage above an equivalent blue gun?

Ok here we go....its a 6" 14-2, factory nickel plated from c1964. Serial K588XXX....buying it for $700 Australian (about $650 US I guess)...I don't really care about the money...in Aus that is a bargain for a 1964 nickel "Smith"
We really dont get many of these in Australia
Can anyone tell me what sort of numbers these came out in nickel please?
Cheers
Mike

Exact numbers have never been published and I am not sure any one has researched the nickel 14s enough to give a specific answer or even a close estimate.
They are out there but not seen a lot. They would most likely be special order guns. You would think that they would command a larger premium.
Of course we don't even know if you do have one because you haven't POSTED ANY PICTURES YET.
