Mod 19-2 need details
I'm new here, just acquired a model 19-2 with a 3 1/2" barrel, serial #K699XXX, any idea what year and how many made? It was a local Sheriff Deputy carry weapon for 20 + years, minor wear on bluing 85% ?
I don't see any reference to a 3 1/2" barrel.
Please help

Welcome to the Forum Bob!
Your revolver should be from about 1966 - no clue as to how many were made.
Did you measure the barrel from the face of the cylinder? It should be a 4"er unless someone modified it.

Did you measure from the front face of the cylinder to the muzzle?

Front of cylinder to muzzle
3.545" from muzzle to front of cylinder, doesn't look to be cut down and everything looks original.

We've got to have pictures Bob (especially at the muzzle and the front sight).

Appreciate the help, problem with camera
Thanks a bunch, I can't get the camera to work so I'll see if I can get someone to photograph it for me. Does anyone here know if any model 19-2's came with a 3 1/2" barrel from the factory?
Thanks a bunch, this is a cool forum

I don't think any were made that way and I can't imagine someone going through the work to cut a 1/2" off

A barrel swap is not impossable but most short barrel K frames look different with a rear sight ramp that extends the full length of the receiver ending at the barrel like the two pictured below.
Now compare a regular K frame receiver (top) to a short barrel K receiver (Below).
Short barrel in Nickel (left) standard in blue (right)

I think maybe a cut down 6", although @3 1/2" the writing isn't centered. Joe
