Default Cleaning light rust off case hardening

HI all,

I have a 27-2 with beautiful case hardened colours on the trigger and hammer. I left her in the safe after shooting for a couple of weeks...I thought I had cleaned her up thoroughly but when I took her out for a run today I noticed light surface rust on the side and front of the trigger and some on the checkering on the hammer.

Could anyone please tell me how can i clean this off (and keep it off) without damaging the colour case hardening???

Cheers

Mike

I'd try some Kroil with a brass bristled brush. You cannot get very aggressive without risking washing out or removing the case colors. When you have the parts cleaned up I would apply some Birchwood Casey "Sheath" for protection.

LSA oil and 0000 steel wool, works well for removing rust...
