Model 60s in .357 Magnum
The Model 60 5-shot, J-frame, in its various dash series, was made in both .38 Sp. and .357 Mag, I believe. Can anyone tell me which dash series are the .357s, and post a picture of one with a 3" barrel? Thanks in advance.

I don't have any reference in front of me to double check my memory but, I believe the -9 was the first offered in .357. I sent S&W an email when I got my 60-9 & was pleased to find out that bit of info. The -9 was also the last mod without any locks. The added the lock to the -10 about mid way through so there are some-10 without the lock also.

Nice gun & rig KS! Another fun fact I am sure someone will soon point out, all .357 model 60s were after 1980.

Thanks JJ, I didn't realize some -10s had the lock. Mine is a no lock.

Very nice Model 60s, both of you. Thanks for your responses and pictures, even though I put the request in the 'wrong' section.

Well, since were are posting our "pride and joy" pics I wil post mine. It is nothing special to most, but to me it is priceles! KS is that second pic of a different gun? The angle makes it hard to judge barrel lenght. I see the grips are different. Jmark ya got any pics of yours?

JJ,
Yes that is the same gun with different grips and from the other side. I've settled on the original grips rather than the Hogue Bantams that are in the second picture.

Model 60 sights
Since we're getting such a good response, with great pictures, which of the dash series 357s had plain sights rather than the target sights?

KS looking at the picture now I don't know what angle I was refering to? Maybe it was just the grips throwing of my perspective on my giant cell phone screen here!! Or just my old eyes! I think it looks better with the original grips. Plus with the magnum loads, that pinky on the grip helps a lot!!

I had the exact same 60-10, sold it in one of my weak moments. Nice rig to go along with that one, beauty.

This I am not certain on, I believe the adjustable sights were on the 3" brl models of each dash. So wether it was -9 or -15, they were available on the 3" brl model.

The 60-9 was the first .357 J-frame (I think). It came out in the mid 1990's. I bought mine in 1996. I like mine so much it's the only handgun I ever bought back after I sold it.
