Aw, Bill. You know that old advice: "Buy the gun, not the story". Hope you didn't pay too much premium

Sorry to hear you couldn't get it back.
Especially after you had your hopes up.

I have a Austin Texas Police Department Model #27-2 in 357 with a 3 1/2" barrel in Nickel that I have had for a number of years. I have tried to find some more information about it to determine it's age, value and history with little success. Joined this group recently to try to find more information. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks
Rick

Know the feeling, Ethang. Wish I could have bought my 5” Smith M10 when I left old #5 for Miami-Dade long ago. Be safe Motown copper.

Good luck with your search, and thanks for all your years of service to Austin. I have a son who lives in Austin with his family. Great town.

There is another thread in this section with a guy saying he has an Austin PD with a 3-1/2 barrel. He’s looking for a value, no idea if he would part with this one. Might be worth asking, here’s the link to the thread:

Austin Texas Police Department Model 27-2

It's still good reading, though. Great to try and help people find what they are looking for.

Default I got lucky

My old FTO/ mentor sold his registered magnum to my buddy, my buddy passed and left it to his son in Virginia, who later gifted it to me! If that RM could talk! It was used in West Texas during the wildest times of 1940' to the 1980's.....
