S&W 18-3

Hi all,
I’ve just picked up an S&W mod.18-3. S/N 8K256XX…all matching box and all. Can I please get a DOM and if anybody knows what was the third change all about I’ll greatly appreciate that info also?
Thanks in advance,
Jack.

It was shipped in 1975, and the 3rd engineering change was the dreaded "relocation of rear sight leaf screw" in 1967. Enjoy!

It looks like 1975.

The 18-3 change is listed as "relocation of rear sight leaf screw". They moved the forward most rear sight screw forward so the thru hole wasn't directly over the flash gap. They didn't move it much.

Thank you so much!

Just found mine (a -4) a couple of weeks ago. A great revolver. I like shooting it much more than my 8-3/8" Model 17.

Very good revolver, I bought my 18-3 new, still have it.

I just bought an 18-3 recently...and took it out today to sight it in. What a wonderfully fun gun to shoot...and so accurate.

Enjoy yours...
