Default Model 10 no dash fell into my lap today PICS ADDED

Was at one of the LGS run by an old friend and former copper I worked with back in the day. We got talking about revolvers and I noted he had some PD trade in M 10s on the shelf, list was $289.00 I asked which PD they were from, and he said "you don't want one of those, I have one NIB I'll sell you for $300"
Model 10, no dash, beat up original box (serial number in white grease pencil on bottom) cleaning rod without the mop, but the rest of the papers intact. Walnut diamond stocks (haven't taken them off yet to see if they match) 4 screw frame, serial number C491497.
Not QUITE NIB, has marks on the cylinder and stocks where it has been sliding around inside the box for years, but recoil shield is perfect.
Not a bad day at the gun store.....pics will come when I get time and my camera set up....
Not bad for $300 bucks.

Post up pics when you get a chance. I never get tired of seeing those old M&P's! Congrats on your find.

Some fellers can walk out in the pasture and find flowers. Me, I just get my boots dirty.

Nice acquisition.

I still have that pair of Roger's for a SB K frame. Kind of big for concealed carry but they would be great on a shooter.

What else did this shop have that I might be interested in?

They had the Model 10's Bruce, both on display had Goodyears but were in good shape...they have marking under the frame window but I didn't have my glasses and the writing was too small for me to read (didn't have any of my young deputies with me today)
Good bit of factory 41 mag ammo, along with some reloads....

I know Smith made about a gagillion M 10's, but finding one new that should be a birthyear gun for me was a good day....you find things in the strangest places, when you ain't expecting it.

You did real good with that purchase. A man with a S&W #10 and a pocket full of speedloaders is well armed.

Hi:
I was going to say "You Stole It" but I remembered that I travel though Georgia on the way to Florida.
So instead I will say "Great Find".
Stay Safe,
Jimmy

Nice sheriff! I'm glad that YOU got it!!! I picked up a real nice M&P a few months ago that I hoped was from my birth year (1951), but it ended up being from 1950. Oh well . . . it is still a nice 5."

Passin' through your county tomorrow going to a birthday party for my daughter-in-law. I'll behave myself (as usual)! I gotta meet you one day!
