Help! I'm away from my SCSW...
Was just looking at a Highway Patrolman, but don't have access to my SCSW. When was the switch from "S" serial to "N" serial numbers? And when did the diamond disappear from the magna stocks? Thanks!

Both answers - approx 1968.
Good luck on the HP - hope to see some pictures later!

The last S serial numbers were shipped in late 1969 or possibly very early in 1970. The first N serial numbered Model 28-2s were shipped in the first half of 1970. Magna stocks without the diamond around the escutcheon and escutcheon nut appeared as early as 1966 for some models and as late as 1968 for others. Stocks without the diamonds were phased in over time and eventually replaced the older style stocks.
