It's getting bad guys. I just picked up my second Smith in
less than a week. This week it is a 19-3 with 4 inch barrel.
The gun is 95% and fits my hand like a glove.
I was wondering the year of production is someone can help with that. The serial number is: 4k149xx.

I picked up a 27-2 and it just didn't feel like the 19.
I hate to be a bother with the serial numbers, is there
a book I can buy to look this stuff up? And if its not asking
too much, the 17-4 I bought earlier this week,serial is 83k27xx.
And I found a model 17 no dash with serial k4009xx. Any help
with these dates would be appreciated.

The 17-4 dates to 1980. The 17 to 1960.
Check out the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas. Any well stock book store should have it for about $40, or check on-line.
