Default Height of 27-2 5" bbl sight/base

I need to order a front sight for a 27-2 made around 1967-68. It is a one piece sight and base, no insert and checkered base for a 5" bbl gun.
Can someone with a 5" bbl 27-2 from this vintage measure their front sight and base and tell me what height I need to order.

Would also be interested if someone has one for sale. Again, I would need it without the red insert and with a checkered base.

thanks
Charlie

Charlie,
I noticed that this has gone unanswered for a while, so I grabbed a couple of 5" .357's out of the safe and took some measurements. I don't have a '68 M27, but I have a '51 and a '78.

That's a difficult measurement to make, but on the '78 the best guesstimate I can make is .450". On the '51 gun it's too difficult to estimate because the joints are so well blended and the rib is cut for the base.

Another measurement that may help you that is solid is from the top of the front sight to the top of the bore (inside), using the blade side of the digital calipers. On both guns the distance is close- .723" on the '51 gun and .715" on the '78.

Hope this helps!
