Need a good revolver smith for my model 66?
I recently aquired a model 66 no dash that has timing problems I think. Most of the time when you pull the hammer back the cylinder will not rotate. I would like to have that addressed and the total gun worked over as I plan to make this my daily companion. Who would be recomended for that kind of job that doesnt have a 2 year waiting list?

I don't see where you're at..I would recommend Nelson Ford in Phoenix. See his web site, has a 30 day turn around right now. Did my 28-2 and currently has my 1911

Why not send it back to Smith & Wesson for service? They are pretty darn good, and the wait isn't all that long.
If you were in Texas, I know of a good revolver smith here.
Good luck with your new 66!

That's not a timing problem.
If you can't find anybody locally, S&W has a good turnaround time.

If it rotates sometimes and not others (bet it works when you hold it muzzle down!) it isn't a timing problem, it is an assembly issue. You don't need a super whiz-bang revolver smith to fix it, just someone capable of dis-assembling the lockwork and installing the hand in the trigger correctly. Anyone capable of cleaning the gun properly can fix this for you. Most likely the hand torsion spring isn't engaged on the torsion pin. The spring could be missing or broken, but neither is likely.
