Texas Ranger .357
I was at the local Gander Mt yesterday. They have a Texas Ranger, 4", not engraved for $599. It is being sold as used, but it looks pristine. No cylinder marks. As usual there was only 1 clerk there making a sale to another customer and I didn't have the time to wait to find out if it had the original box, etc. Had the Gander Mt 1 yr warranty.
Now I need another gun like a hole in the head, but that one was begging me to take it home (kinda like a hooker in fish net stockings giving me the eye)
I saw one on Guns America for sale for $585 + $20 shipping + my FFL fee (?) and it didn't look near as good.
What do you think?

The TR was the first I believe of the commerative revolvers and came with and without a knife. Would be a nice gun to collect and the price is not bad. It is suppose to come in a wood presentation case.

I sold this one last year to someone here for either $600 or $650s? I had bought it new in the 1970s when they came out and had never fired it. The knife also has a sheth. Years back I also bought and sold another.

I love the TR sets and have several of them.
Engraved (one of 50)
Standard with 2 digit TR SN.
As to the price - with a knife and case the price is great, w/o knife and case the price is ok.
Great guns with wonderful finish and some cool features, namely smooth backstrap and cut-away trigger guard.

Thanks for the inputs.
I think I'll go there today to give it a good look see and see if I can make a deal with a NIB Ruger Vacquero polished SS as trading material. If I get it I'll post photos.

Buy it! I have one and shoot it. What's not to like about a P & R, 3T, RR, and smooth target stocks? It's about the price of a regular 19 of that age. Bill.

Thanks Bill.
I bought it. sn tr930x
No knife.
Took wife to lunch for Chinese. Fortune cookie said ship in harbor look good, but not meant for that purpose. (an omen?)I think it'll be a shooter, but not often.
Took some photos on my desk. My back hurts or I would've gotten some better ones on my bench downstairs.
Anyone got an approx date based on serial number?

One more thing. The trigger guard was narrowed ala like bill jordan advised when they came out. Had I not owned many more guns I would have shot and carried the one I owned and have been proud to, but as said I had other fine guns and kept it a safe queen.

SCSW says all Texas Rangers were made in 1973.
