New N Frame Family
For my first Smith, I decided on a model 29. I looked for one locally (California Central Coast) for a year and a half, with no success. Then about two months ago this beautiful 57 no-dash came up for sale, cheap:
I deliberated for about 10 minutes, but could not resist. It is a great gun, a real shooter. When I am not at the range, this will be my backup for hunting/hiking/fishing.
So the following weekend I went to a gun show, and stumbled on a breathtaking S-prefix 29-2, Serial S2845XX. It was the end of the day, so I;m not sure what everyone else was thinking... The gentleman selling it said that it was his first gun ever, purchased by him in 1969. I don't know if he was the original owner or not. The price was $750. I tried to walk away from the table as my "needs" were already covered by the 57. I made it about 10 steps:
To date this is the most accurate revolver I have ever shot, and I've spent time with Pythons, Colt Officer models etc. I wasn't expecting that from a 44 mag.
So I thought I was set, and then a 5 screw 1955 target came up for sale:
So now I have a family!

hmmmm... next time you see a pre-27, you'll think you'll need a .357 to finish the set, then a 25-5, & then some 4" & 8", then a stainless....
Three very nice guns, thanks for sharing.

No, these are sold cool stuff to buy cool stuff guns, but don't be giving me any ideas!

Done, otherwise I could never afford to shoot them. Especially the 41 mag.
Thanks to all for the kind comments!

Oh, no!!! Another victim of the dread S&W acquisition disease. It'll just get worse and there seems to be no cure...
That beautiful 25 has a very unusual red ramp on it. A very nice collection and great photography.....

Extraordinary. I have a thing for N-frames, but none of mine look like those.
