Default Model 29-2 hammer

What di I need to look for in replacing a hammer on a 29-2? is it just the stirrup that's different?

May I ask why you want to replace the hammer? Damaged? Don't care for the wide target style? Need to return it to original?

In my experience about 9 times out of 10 a S&W hammer and or trigger will swap from another gun and work fine.

Default hammer swap

I own a pawnshop. this guy brings in a 29-2 that looks like he tried to do all these mods with out any experience. it looks as though he bobbed the hammer then decided he didn't like it and tried to solder it back together. Looks bad.

Ah... in that case, you need a .500" (1/2") Target hammer for an N frame. You can check the gunbroker.com auctions, ebay, and the classifieds here on this forum. You can post a want to buy ad there. I would guess it will cost between $30-$60 for one and like I said, 90% of the time in my experience they drop in and work fine.
