Default Model 10-7 or 10-9 with 4 inch Tapered Barrel and Round Butt?

I know the Model 10-5 was available with the Round Butt frame and the 4 inch tapered barrel, but I have never seen a later model 10-7 or 10-9 in this configuration.

Can anyone confirm production of the 10-7 or 10-9 Round Butt with 4 inch tapered barrel?

Thanks,

Steve

I have seen 10-9's, I don't think they are very common and all of them have been RHKP marked guns.

Both 10-7's and 10-9's seem to be rarer and most if not all probably all went to special orders for police contracts. By the the 4" HB had become the "standard" for S&W's M10 production and they were phasing out the taper barrels.

I've never seen a round butt for either a -7 or -9. Then again, I had never seen a RB 4" 10-8 until I bought one. You never know what's out there.

Thanks, Stan

I have a 10-8 with Round Butt and 4 inch Heavy Barrel that came with the factory "banana" grips. It is LNIB and is really nice. I sure would like to find a late Model 10 Round Butt with the 4 inch tapered Barrel.

This is a 10-9, Smithnut has at least one with a round butt. I believe there were 85 or so total made with the CC finish. Some were RB and some SB.

Yes, I own one, the top gun in this photo is a #10-7. The serial # is C7697XX, made sometime between 1963-1965. This is the second oldest S&W I own.

Thanks for the photo. Are you sure the top revolver is marked 10-7 rather than 10-5? According to the Book, the Model 10-7 didn't start until 1977 and the serial number for the Model 10-7 should be in the D series..

My brother has all my #10's, #64's, and #65 at the moment so all I had to go by was my handwritten serial number list. My handwriting is nearly as bad as my photography, but it looks like a "7" on my list. I sent him a text message and will post the correction if needed.

There had been one of those color cased 10-9's on Gunbroker for years, priced at like $900 or some such.

Well, I must be mistaken. Now I have to go through my list and re-check the guns against it.
