Default Would like to know history on 16-5

I have a MOD 16-5, blue, K-frame, 6 shot, 4" barrel, target sights, 357 Mag. Have not found much on the internet about it. Serial number AUS XXX, the best I have come up with so far early to mid 70's. The gun is in great condition, no hostler wear, no rust, smooth but used. I got it yesterday at a local gun show only paid $340, I am happy with it. Would like to know more history on the gun.

Do you mean a Mod 66? The Model 16 is a 32 and the last production version was a 16-4. The A series of serial numbers began in 1980 and an AUS number is likely late 1980s.

Hope this helps.

Steve

Welcome to the Forum!
You sure that's not a model 19-5? 16's are 32 cal.
Also a "AUS" prefix serial number would be mid to late 1980's.
How about some pictures?
