Default Bought a 28-2

A new to me 28-2 4" came with square butt combats and some kind of a matte finish over the blue also has some flash chromed parts. Well I got lucky the blueing was in decent shape under the coating I know not all original parts but lock up is tight and should make a good shooter. Put the combats on my 27-2 as they fit better.Got $450.00 in to it would you have done this deal? Here it is with the matte coating

With coating removed and a set of magna's

Nice find! You gotta love those 28's.

How did you remove the flat finish to find the blue underneath?

Used Mothers mag polish, the coating may have been Krylon flat black.

Surprised you didn't touch the original finish with the Mothers, but looks nice. You got a decent deal, not great, but decent.

In my neck of the woods, any N Frame in that condition under $500 would not last the day before it was sold.

If you posted it for sale here at $450, it would be the same.

Congrats on a great revolver, enjoy it!

When did 28-2's get front sight inserts? Mine has the steel ramp, which I'm considering painting with nail polish.

I've got a Model 15 like that. It had a dull finish on it that I took to be Parkerizing. On a hunch I took some Flitz and started working on the area under the grips and found a well worn, but nice blue under it. It came off with no trouble at all.

Before

After

I later took it to be simply fine rust, but it was black when it polished off.

BTW. Nice 28 you got there.
