? Did S&W print a manual that lists the 4 inch barrel as one of the barrel choices on the front of the Model 27-2 owner manual. I have a couple that lists the 3.5, 5, 6, 8 3/8, but no 4.

I checked my original instruction manuals for the 27-2's and, as you found, the 4" isn't listed. The 4" isn't listed in the instruction literature included with the original 4" gun packaging either. There were comparatively fewer 4" guns made. They apparently didn't feel the need for a re-print or update.....

Probably right 'cause they were only made for about two years. More unpinned and not reccessed ones were made later as 27-4s.
