Default Model 14-3 Price Check

I ran across a very nice Model 14-3, Blue, 6" barrel with TT and TH but no box or paper. According to my research here, it is circa 1977. The shop is asking $569. It seems priced on the high side to me--what do you guys think?

I think it's a little high. I have a 14-3 from 1977, paid about $325.00 for it. But that was about 4 years ago. It's hard to put a price on quality.

I think that's about $150 on the high side without the box and docs.

Yeah, a little high. I would think $450 would be more like it in my neck of the woods.

Close to 500.00 is more in the range for this market. if it's got great bluing and good wood....

Never regret a S&W

$900??? I'm feeling a little more comfortable with the price if the one I found. The bluing is in fact great--even on the end of the barrel where they often show wear. The wood is in good shape too.

I bought a 14-2 with box and docs from Cabela's in Glendale AZ about a month or so ago for $329 + tax. Go figure!

Bought a 14-3 for $350 OTD about a month ago. I would not pay $570 for one. I'd probably go as high as $425 for one in exceptional condition.

I agree with most of the posters here. My collection centers on the K38 Targets and Model 14s. I have picked up a couple 14s recently that were in NRA Excellent condition w/o box for $400 and $450. The $400 one was a bargain because it lettered as an SOA. I would have paid another $75 for that one. But a double action grading Excellent without the box should not cost you more than about $450.
No telling why that one is listed at $900. Must be something very special about it. But unless there is, it appears to be very much overpriced. I doubt they will sell it for that much.
Good luck.
JP

Thanks for the input. I think I will go back in a week or so and see if he is willing to negotiate (I don't want to appear too eager). If he won't move off that price, I will consider some other options.

So $525 was as low as he would go. It certainly is in nice condition but based on prices reflected here and on Gunbroker it is still too high at that price. I passed for now.
