Default Dumb grip question

I have a 27-2 and would like to put the "small" grips on it. Looking for the correct nomenclature (what they are called)...the small grips that only follow the outline of the frame.

Why do some N Frames have the small grips, and some have the "large" ie Coke-type grips?

Thanks!

bushman6,

Welcome to the forum!

What you are looking for are called N frame Magnas. They are most commonly seen and used on 3 1/2, 4, and some 5" guns.

The larger grips are called N frame targets. They were commonly shipped on all the 27-2 models that were in presentation cases. Their typical wood type is called Goncalo Alves. The grip style correct for the 27-2 targets are called "footballs" which are identified by the football shape of the indention on the upper left side of the grips.

Check ebay. There were some N frame magna's on there a few days ago but I wasn't interested in them so I didn't pay much attention to the price.

Thanks Guys! I'm not sure how they will look on my 5" M27, but I'd definitely love to find a 2.5" M27 and they would look PERFECT on that! I also have a 6" 29-2 and a 4" 686+.
