Default Need Help Identifying 5" Barrel .44

Hello....I have a SW .44 5" barrel revolver that I have babied for many years. I have an aftermarket grip, so the original grip is flawless and the gun itself is nearly perfect.
I need help identifying the gun though as I have heard the 5" barrel .44's can be rare. I was wondering if I have one of them and I would also like to know what the gun is worth now days. I hope the following specs help:
Model 29-2
Serial 6615XX
3 Screw
Blue Polish finish
Barrel 5"
Hand eject
adjustable sites
I also have a Colt .45 combat commander I would like to know the worth of if anyone knows about those. It was made in the 80's.
Thanks for all the help and I appreciate you time and sharing of your knowledge.
Trevor

Welcome! Does the SN you quoted have the letter N in front (it is a 1979 gun if so) and are you measuring the barrel from the muzzle to cylinder face? It appears to be either a 6 or 6.5" from the photo.

That Is a 6" 29-2' not a 5"er.

Your Colt Commander value would depend on the overall condition. You said it is from the 80s, which is not COLTs best work historically.

Still a nice COLT 1911 is easily worth $750, and Commanders are just cool guns no matter how you slice it. I see them priced locally from $750 to $999 based on condition.

Alan.....you are correct. I did measure wrong. Its a 6". The SN starts with an N so it must be the 1979 model. Any idea what these are worth? Thanks for the info.

Selling the 29-2 or the Commander?

If you are selling the Commander, and it is from 1978, it should not have the Schwartz style firing pin block safety. I don't mind that safety, but purists of the 1911 hate it, generally. I don't know any better :-)

But if that is the case, and the Commander has a nice finish, and is in good shape, I'll bet it's at least a $1000 if you sell it in the right place. Is it .45acp or a different caliber?
