They are very nice unique guns and with the box in the condition you describe worth the asking price, having said that i'd lay $525.00 cash on the counter but be willing to meet the sellers price. I own a nickel model 49 and have been carrying/shooting it for a long time...They conceal IWB or on the belt very well. I guess what I'm saying is Go for it!!

Well good thing is you dont need to find a screwdriver, just a rod, mop, and brush.
Sounds like a deal

It sounds like a mid-1960’s gun. Was it a S&W Inc or a Bangor Punta box? Flatlatch or conventional thumbpiece? High horn diamond grips?

I picked this one up a coupla' weeks ago at the Louisville show...

Serial number in the high 400000 range. First "Bodyguard" I've ever owned. They look a lot better than the new ones too!

GF that is it. and I do really need you to pack up and ship me the cleaning kit and the info sheet. thanks very much...... just kidding. great looking 49 you have there. and guys I talked him down from $650 to $575 and I will go lay it away. I almost got a 649 alloy one but I love the older guns. I had a chance last spring to get a used 49 with rust on it bad for $275 the lgs wouldnt go lower so I passed. now I will get a like new one with its box.

On the high end but not totally horrible but I'm known to be cheap at times when buying guns. I will admit to being willing to pay a bit more for bodyguards as I rarely see them locally and it seems you either love or hate the look and concept. I personally really like the way they look and need another one.

I picked up an older one yesterday for 300 out the door. A little surface rust, dirty as hell, and finish is about 80%. Thoroughly cleaned and lubed it; good as new. What sold it for me was the weight difference between old and new. I like a weapon that you can shoot and whip with.

I"ve never been attracted to the 49 shape, but threads/pictures like this one have been slowly breaking me down. Good luck.

What they may lack in form, they make up for in function. Pocket carry, IWB, under a light jacket or shirt......they aren't gonna snag on anything, but also allow that SA capability that comes in handy......
