Grashorn stags plus tyler t equals comfort and style? Show off your Grashorns!
I like the "full bark" with the nickel and the "no bark" with the blue. I say the man is a craftsman. I also think this combination makes for a comfortable grip that retains some style. What say you? How bout we show the man some love...show off your Grashorn stags if ya got'em!
.
my apologies for the snake...musta crawled up there when I was adjusting the camera.

I've posted this before, but it's a nice picture I think. I have another Tyler coming for my Python--should look just like yours. However the stags are not Patrick's, although I have and enjoy several of his, so I hope the post isn't too far off topic.

Very nice! I'm wondering now if I should have gotten the colt medallions for that smooth set...the medallions really set those grips off on your gun.

I'll bet if you asked and sent the grips back Patrick would install the medallions for you. Personally I like them.

The M-586, now sports its' own grip adapter, have not had the chance to update photos yet. The Grasshorn stag grips are just great, a combination of style and function.

I didn't use this 19-4 very much because the stag grips didn't allow me to control rapid fire with hot loads as well as I wanted. I added the Tylet Ts and now I have a combination that I feel looks great and shoots great.

I've shown this before, but don't mind dusting the picture off for redisplay.
I have only one pair of Grashorn stocks, and they are mounted on this prewar .38/44 Heavy Duty. This perfectly fits my conception of a western-state lawman's gun in the late 1930s or 1940s.

Nice stags. i do like stag grips, but I like 'em with bark. smooth grips are too slick for me. In the different strokes vein, don't want to offend, but IMO, grip adapters are BUTT UGLY, & I don't care for the way they feel. But they're not permanent, so, if YOU like them, more power to ya'.

Good looking older revolvers
The guns in your post look great. The older S & W revolvers can be dressed up to really look nice. Much better than these black plastic guns of today!

I've long admired both nickel S&Ws and patrick's work.
So, when I finally scored a nickel Model 29, the nexy step was to contact Patrick for a set of stags.
They arrived this week. Now I can join the party:

I wanted mostly white, with no bark, for my 33-1. These are elk bone. Patrick is going to take a little off of the top edge where they cover the engraving border a little.

Looking good! And I enjoy the looks of the grip adapters, also. Have just one great set of N Grashorns - on 4" 624 with light polish on SS.
Thanks for sharing all these gorgeous pictures.

Grashorn smoothies on a Model 58
A beautiful Model 58 recently came to me. Mr. Grashorn's grips are just the perfect compliment for it. They look and feel fantastic and are just what I was after. The man is a gentleman as well and very nice to deal with. That last pic shows the bottom compared to the combats on a Model 57-1. Sorry about the weak photo skills but had to show them off. Thanks again Patrick.

Patrick's Work
I have posted these photos before, but cann't say enough good about Patrick's work. He will build the grips to suit your hand size as he did with these Alaskan fossil bone beauties gracing a pair of .357 mag M-28s.

WOW! Some real beauties here! Great thread. Love the classic look of his works of art. Only have one set for now on my 19-3. Am slowly saving for 2 more sets, one for my 2" 34 snub and its big brother a 2" 15-3 snub. Nice grips and revolvers/semi's guys!
Here's mine with my old stag handled Puma hunter. It's had lot's of blood on it from taking care of deer and other game since 1979 and has aged just like me . My favorite knife with one of my favorite S&W's!

Patrick does absolutely outstanding work! I have his grips on a 65-5 and a 1950 numbered K-22. Guess l'd better get some photos posted to show off his fine craftsmanship.

I do like the style of the stags, with bark....and I can see how they would help with "gripability" as opposed to smooth ones. But, I just can't get past the COLOUR ! The whitish colour of them just puts me off.....it just looks wrong to me...
If they were the same brownish colour as the "bark" areas throughout....that would be different. I suppose that they could be dyed or painted...
Oh well, to each his own.

The stags are from Patrick. You are dead wrong about "gripability" with smooth grips. With full magnum loads in this M-19. I have NO issues with these grips. They are nice & thick which gives you a lot of grip surface, without slipping. As far as color that's a personal preference. These grips work VERY well for me.
Here's the other side the grips are not bookend. That is NOT a issue to me. I should do up a matching trigger. So the hammer and trigger finish would match. Since this one is a carry gun. I'm going to leave it as is.

OK, so I am "dead wrong". Actually, I didn't say (or even imply) that the smooth grips created grip problems. I only expressed that it SEEMED to me that the ones with "bark" would HELP with grip. Perhaps not.
No need to get insulted. Geez. Touchy aren't we ?

I'm Not touchy or insulted. Don't read into things or take my comments the wrong way. That was not my intention. I just mentioned my findings. Take it for what it's worth.
This pic shows how thick these grips are. Plenty of surface area to get a good grip on the revolver.

Which is heavier, bone/stag or wood? To clarify the wood being considered should be either walnut or goncoalves.

Bone/stag is quite a bit heavier than wood.
