Need Info and Value of M19-4
Hello everyone! I'm a 18th Century reenactor so way out of my balywick. I need to lighten my safe and have pulled out a Nickle plated 2.5 .357 Mag Model 19-4 I obtained from a police officer friend in 1985 due to it being georgeous. This was a safe gun of his and he needed funds, lol. I had a gun store owner friend/gunsmith add Sambar grips and slick it like glass. I don't shoot modern and has been in my safe the whole time with less than 2 boxes of ammo put thru it and don't know how many the officer friend of mine put thru her. The frame at the cylinder yoke has MOD. 19-4 on it and the yoke itself has the number 49010 stamped on it with just above the number UPSIDEDOWN the letter B and the number 3. The serial # is 31K6575. I was hoping to get educated on the value of this piece, build date and what all these numbers mean.

My experience is that 19 snubs are in great demand. The prices on Gunbroker for guns like yours in very good to excellent condition range from about $500 to about $700. I recently paid $600 for a nickel 19-3 snub and didn't feel cheated. Also, if those grips are genuine Sambar stag they certainly add something to the gun's value.

According to your serial number, it was manufactured between 1978 and '79.

Thank you so much for your replies. It's really a beautiful gun in person. I appreciate your patience with a newbie. And yes they are Sambar......I picked them out of a group of nine before the doors closed on them. I wish i had as nice a pair of grips in Sambar for my colts, lol.

Sir: I bought a 19-3 nickel about two months ago for $600 and was happy with the deal.
