Default Question about 38 sp M37 snubby

When did they stop the "diamond" shape on the wood grips. I have a local that wants to sell an M37 snub and he says that it dates to 1960 + or - a year or two. The grips are checkered with no diamonds and I'm thinking they are newer. I am trying to get a serial # to help nail down a date. Thanks for the replies.

My M 37 dates to about 1958/1959 SN 177XXX. It does have Diamond grips numbered to the gun.
