Picked up my new Kit Gun today
After finding nothing to buy at the last big gunshow, I shopped the big auction site to find a .22 revolver to use as a trainer for my girls (wife and daughter, currently 4). Found a really nice-looking M34-1 complete with box, papers and tools. Paid a total of $515 including purchase, shipping, transfer and sales tax (yes, Washington is forcing dealers to collect use tax on all transfers).
Serial number is M94276, so born around 1977. 4" blue, round butt, standard stocks numbered to gun. Has a little white paint on the front sight. Seems very little fired. Without further ado...
Any and all comments are welcome!

Congratulations, this is a beautiful little one!
Be warned;
Maybe you have to find your wife and daughter another gun.
They are such fine shooters, mine, a flatlatch Square Butt model, ended up being my most favorite gun to shoot. To my own surprise I found myself picking it up more than my Model 18-2.

Very nice I've got a Model 63, the Kit Guns sure are fun little pieces.
We probably walked by eachother at the show and didn't even know it. I was at the last WAC show here in Puyallup. Like you, didn't find a whole lot :/ It's usually worth a looksie though.
I don't know if you're aware of the local forums or not, but they're definitely worth a look:

WaGuns.org - Index page
Western Washington Firearms
Congrats on the Kit Gun...I'd of paid what you did in a heartbeat! I'm sure you and your family will love it

Congratulations on the Mod 34, it is a great shooter. I used similar logic in buying one several years ago, said it would be nice to have a small .22lr to shoot with the grandkids. I like shooting it and the Mod 18 I also bought for the kids to shoot.

Finding that was a real good thing. I would gladly pay for that over the new model any day. Finding the same deal is about the only thing that will keep me from buying the new SP101 .22LR that will be releasing soon.

Have it's twin brother (maybe sister) purchased new in 1974 or so. Still have the box, papers, tools etc and the kit gun would probably rate a 98%. Manager of Collector's Firearms where it was purchased (it is still in business) always asks if I would like to return it. Kind of an inside joke.
FYI Smith and Wesson parts department still sells old school wax paper in case you would like to make your new kit gun display complete.
When returned to Smith in the mid 1990's to replace any internal parts showing wear, springs, stop, etc the gunsmith estimated it had fired perhaps fifty thousand .22s. By now it's anybody's guess. Still looks new! Take care of yours and it will last forever. Hands down my favorite of my many, many handguns.

Just noticed - did the Tyler's grip filler come with the gun? (that gun will shoot forever!)

Thanks for all the good thoughts, folks! Can't wait to get it out and shoot it.
Regarding the Tyler box...no, it didn't come with it. It would fit, though, as it is a standard J-Frame adapter. That just happened to be my last one and was sitting there when I needed to tilt the gun up just a bit for the photo.

Nice snag! It's now in the hands of someone who'll start its next "life". Don't see how you could find a better "trainer".
