Odd "pinto?"
Seems to me that back in the early 70's, when I was coppin in Denver, I used to go into Swanson Custom Firearms at 10th and Broadway on a regular basis, as it was where all the gun savvy, (and those who thought they were gun savvy!) went. I'm sure I remember seeing on at least one occasion, a pinto,( they called them bi-color) model 10 with a 5 or 6 inch barrel. Thing is it was a nickel frame and blued barrel and cylinder. Possible? Or a fig newton of my aged imagination?

I too am from the 70s. Yes it was possible since SS frames were new and at that time the best way to get a pinto was on a nickel frame.

I have seen pictures of a pinto on this forum but it was some time ago. Perhaps someone can educate me here. Did these come from the factory? Would swapping a blued barrel and cylinder with a nickle frame and vice versa count? Or must it come from the factory as a "pinto"? Very cool looking in any event I think. Don't recall ever seeing one for sale on the forum though.

I believe that would be a horse of a different color.
"Pinto" - Blue frame, nickel cylinder and barrel.
"Paint" - Nickel frame, blue cylinder and barrel.

This is very possible. If you search pinto you will likely run across some of Jeremy's posts about his model 19's that are a pair with one having the typical factory pinto finish and one having the factory reverse pinto finish.

You can also find two tones with just a nickel cylinder. Not sure if you call that a pinto. Have never seen a nickel gun with blue cylinder.

Is Swanson's still there? I visit Denver 1 or 2 times a year but haven't been downtown on Broadway in awhile. I also enjoyed Gart Bros big store fo rthe fly fishing dept. My son worked there for awhile back about the late 80's.

Well, I learned something, which is always good. Seems I have a "Pinto" and a "Paint". Though they mean the same thing, I like the way they describe the guns. Here are mine, a "Pinto" and a "Paint".
Not great pics, but I am getting better.
