Model 67 rear sight. Question answered, it's stainless!
Weren't some of the early 67s with stainless steel sights and when did they discontinue and switch to blued? Are they more desireable and require any premium? I'm just not familiar with this model or I'm drawing a blank.
Thanks in advance

Yes, the early (that is, no-dash) Model 67's introduced in 1972 had stainless sights. However, someone else will have to comment on when those sights were discontinued and changed to black. I've always wondered if the people using them (read that "police") didn't like the glare of stainless and switched them to black sights. I would guess that since there are fewer of the stainless sighted 67's, they are more desirable and/or would bring a slight premium.

diamonback, a Model 67 no dash, at least early ones had stainless rear sights as mentioned, I have 1. I don't know when they changed to blue, if it was still a no dash, or a 67-1. I have red here that stainless rear sights are more desireable, but not sure if it is fact or not. I really enjoy mine at any rate. I don't see too many come up for sale. Bob

I have one of the no dash models, I think that I read towards the end of the no dash model that they started putting the blue sight on the rear.

Thanks guys, I'm going to look at one in the AM and probably buy it. I saw it once briefly and I recall it having stainless sights, but don't remember the dash number. I'm thinking I can probably get it for about $400 and I'm okay with that.

Had one back in the early '70s and sold it. Replaced it with one about a year ago for $375, but it had rubber grips on it at the time.

I had a no dash with the stainless rear sight and I painted the front sight ramp red which helped a lot.

Well I went and done it. I got the 67 no dash with 3K serial number from the first year of production 1972 with the stainless rear sights. Gun is 98% at least.
He also brought along a 15-3 blue 1K serial number from 1971 in 99% conditon almost looks to be never fired.
YOU GUESSED IT! I bought both for $800 OTD (ie. $400 each) and I'm a happy camper. Didn't need the 15-3, but what the hey!
Now, he also tried to entice me with a beautiful 19-3 nickel in 98%+ condition, but said he had $600 in it and would like to get his money back so I politely passed on that one.
I guess I'm still a sucker for pretty guns.
Thanks all for your help.

Sal made me do it. I could hear his voice repeating over and over "You want them, you need them, you can't live without them." So see, it's all Sal's fault, I ain't taking all the blame any more, time to fight back with guns in hand.
BTW, I'm still gonna try to make the gunshow this weekend and I still got money. Can't wait for that hot cuppa.
