Default S & W M & P "Victory" Model - approx. value and DOB?

I posted once before on this but I didn't have very much information on it at the time. I was able to get more information from the folks that have the "Victory" that I was interested in.

Can someone advise approx value & DOB?

S & W - M & P "Victory"
Parkerized finish - approx. 60%
38 spl. with 4 inch barrel
very good bore, tight and should be a good "shooter"
There are no government markings or import markings
Proper smooth walnut stocks and has lanyard ring
Serial # V1586XX

I'm more interested in it as a "shooter" than a "collector piece" but don't know if I should keep looking. I have a S & W M & P with 6" barrel - 1905 4th change target model and would like to add a 4" barrel model of some sort.

Thanks for any help!

I'll go out on a limb and guess it dates from 1942-45.

From your description, this should be a gun that was routed through DSC for service with war materials contractors. This is a fairly early gun, probably shipped in late 1942 or early 1943.

If the stocks are matching, even with the well worn finish, it's still a pretty desirable gun. Lettering one is an adventure, as some of these "civilian" Victory models went to interesting destinations.

Thanks fellas for the info - greatly appreciated. As you already have discovdered, I posted this in the wrong section. I meant it to be in the hand ejector section and obviously clicked on the wrong forum. I'll post this where it should be. I'd appreciate it if the moderator would close this . . . after giving me a dozen lashes with a wet noodle! I apologize again and thank you for the information.
