This early Tyler was carried from 1952 to 1976 by a Missouri Trooper on his 5” K-38.

This seems like a good place to ask. I've got an adapter, appears to be a black, plastic type material (will try to post pics later) that is marked as follows:
FRAY-MERSHON, INC
L.A. CALIF
"SURE GRIP"
On the inside it's stamped as a 6.
Is it an early Pachmayr? What gun/guns does the #6 fit? TIA

Not a Pachmayr,it's commonly called a Mershon. Not positive what it fits,but I would guess a Python,Trooper,New Service,etc.

Thank you for the reply. Thought perhaps Fray-Mershon turned into or was bought out by Pachmayr since their products look a lot a like.
Thought it might be for a Colt but my Python has target stocks and I didn't think about trying it on the frame itself. Will have to see how it fits. Seems like I tried it on my Colt Marshall and it didn't fit that frame size.

Wow!! Talk about gunporn! I only have a few, but the adapters
work Really well.
Top left is 38 H&R Hammerless, top right is M36, 3", and bottom
is Terrier. All three handle much better w/adapters. These are BK
GRIP ADAPTERS. I've got somethiong around here with a Tyler Tee,...
okay, it's a 32 I-frame, with a standard Tyler for j-frame.
Great thread great guns, and great adapters! TACC1

Here's a K-22 & K-38 set up identically, the stocks are ivory polymer from Altamont and the adapters are older T-Grips with the addresses stamped on the left sides.

Frankengun with Adapter
Here's mine with a reworked N frame adapter (Pachmayr didn't make an adapter for the RB K frame, oddly enough). The bottom was broken off at an angle so I shortened it and shaped everything to fit. Looks a bit like a Tyler..

Here's a couple Chiefs with Pachmayr grip adapters. BTW Numrich has some old new stock Pachmayrs for sale for like 10 or 11 bucks each.
