Pawn shop find - finally some good luck
Left the office this morning to get a coke, and decided to drop in by my fav pawn shop. Lo and behold - a 27-2 3.5 inch blue in the counter. A little dirty, about 95% blue, sporting pachmayrs. But hey, at 300 OTD, it's mine. Then I called a buddy to brag, and he tells me he has three sets of new condition factory N targets, and I can take my pick - as a gift! Ser.# N201XXX, I guess about 1973? Looks like it's shaping up to be a great weekend.
BTW - how do you get the 70's looking gold filling out of the roll marks?

Good find! Good buddy!
I'm thinking acetone might get rid of the filling?

Acetone will cut the gold paint, but you'll need something to dislodge it from the lettering. An old bore brush or an acid brush trimmed to about 5/16" bristles will do the trick.

Wow, you could double your money on that one and the buyer would STILL be getting a bargain!
I'm jealous.

Acetone is good.
Hoppe's will cut some varieties.
Either way, use your wife's toothbrush.

$300??? Better buy a lotto ticket today! Oh, and forget Lee's advice about using the wife's toothbrush. She'll know, and you might find yourself brushing your teeth with, well, you get the idea.

Wow, you did good on that one! I guess I need to start shopping at a better grade of pawn shops! And finger nail polish remover with a cotton ball might be a start, soak it in the cotton ball and then dab the lettering, let it work a minute or two then try Lee's toothbrush idea......

Detail stripped and cleaned, ready to head to the range. The lock up is excellent, no end shake at all. Looks to not have been carried or shot much.

Not only lucky, but blessed with a great friend. Hope you won't take Lee's word on the choice of brushes. I'd like to hear your range report before you "pass over" as they say. TACC1
