19-3 Pinto/Two-Tone 2.5"
I think this might a one of a kind. Here is the last paragraph of the letter.
"We have researched your Smith & Wesson Model 19-3 Combat Magnum Special Production, caliber .357 Magnum......serial number K953802, was shipped from our factory on July 6, 1970, and delivered to Charles Greenblatt Inc., New York City, NY. This revolver was listed as being built for Officer William B. O'Donald New York City Department of Corrections. The records indicate that revolver was shipped with a 2 1/2 inch barrel equipped with a yellow ramp front sight, nickel barrel, nickel cylinder, blue frame, and dark smooth rosewood grips. "

Thanks to everyone for your comments? Cost? Well, it is not on the low side. You have to figure about twice+ the going rate of a run-of-the-mill blued gun.

Based on a recent e-bay auction I bet the grips alone are worth somewhere north of $500. My guess is the whole gun is 3 to 4 times the price of a regular old blued only gun IMHO. Outstanding pistol.

I should take a picture of the grip profile. It is a very thick piece of rosewood. It has almost a palm swell feel to it.

If that isn't a supreme example of Smith & Wesson pistolcraft at its finest, I don't know what is! Absolutely fantastic piece!

First time I've seen this thread too. What a great looking piece. Seems to have lots special features. The yellow ramp, target trigger and hammer, rosewood grips, and the side plate screws look nickel plated.
Thanks for posting, love seeing these.

A few odd Pinto's went to Greenblatt.
I see your stocks predate your gun also.

I've never been enamored with "Pinto" guns, but I'm sure willing to make an exception for this one.
I'd love to meet the person who carried that one to work. Ya gotta have a real sense of style and self to pull that off .

It was probably a retirement gift...not sure. It definitely was not carried. I wish I was able to talk with him about it.

Very nice Two Tone. This is the second one I've seen like this...first one didn't have a yellow ramp insert though.
Very cool letter too!
