I bought a m64-3 three inch heavy barrel and finally found some Bianchi hammer shroud grips

Super excited that I found these grips; thanks 5Wire

mesinge2,
I have the same grips on a 65. Even though my photographic skills are inferior to yours, I will add a photo showing a view of the hammer.

Mesinge2, the gun is beautiful, but those grips tend to hide the classic styling of a 64. I like to change the grips on my K frames, and make them look different once and a while. My favorite to this point are smooth targets. I also have a set of C.T. 207 laser grips. Not much to look at, but serve a purpose. Enjoy your 64! Bob

Nice gun mesing2,

I personally like the grips and remember when they were very popular. People either like em or hate em! Now you need some classic leather,
which may be hard to find given the shape of the grips.

How does she shoot for you? It should gobble +P's by the box full and be comfortable to boot. The heavy barrel revolvers just have that nasty up side your head look!! You did good with that one for sure.

She shoots great. I think I shoot this one better than my model 19-4 with the same loads and with the weight of the barrel +P loads don't add much to the recoil.

Model 64

If it works for you, congratulations.

I've had a Model 65 for years - it's one of my favorite revolvers. Rather than use those grips I'd get an extra hammer and have it bobbed.

Here's how mine looks these days. And a Model 60 that I carry daily - no need for any special grips here.

I guess my thinking is a K-frame is too large to worry about carrying in a manner that would require the hammer be shrouded or bobbed. Can't stick that big a revolver in your right front pants pocket after all.

But that's what makes the forum interesting. Everyone has their own projects and likes and dislikes. Enjoy your three inch 64, they are great revolvers no matter what grips they wear.

Thanks, smithman 10

Nice 65. I actually carry it in a IWB holster from Don Hume and these grips will make sure it won't catch my shirt (which has happened).

Model 64

Understand that.

Nothing like a holster set up that doesn't work right. Makes me remember when I leaned over and dropped my Model 60 on the driveway out of a cheap IWB holster with no strap or retention capability.

Made me glad it hadn't happened in public.

That's why I switched to front pocket carry.

If you got a system going that works for you that's what counts.

Which speed loaders are you using or recommend?

EDIT: and btw just scored a brand new 64-5 with three inch barrel for $450 delivered. Couldn't be happier especially after I get a couple of speed loaders. Would HKS brand be the ones most recommended?

Best,
-T

I like HKS loaders but my all time favorites are 5 star loaders:

Bianchi lightning grips. I tried for a while to find one and didn't feel like paying the ever growing absorbent price. From what I see they look like they would work pretty darn well. So the question is why did they drop them and why isn't anyone making one now in this explosion of CCW era???

If they were still making these my m36 would be wearing them!

I know technically I could just buy a 638, but I would rather be able to have an optional grip. But I'm a grip junky. I like my options.
