Hello Correctionsguy and welcome to the forum,

The picture you posted was of a full underlug blued model 17-6 not an 18-2 ,
Also the serial number you posted is actually not the serial number but an assembly number for factory use.

While the serial is sometimes stamped above the model number in the crane,
If you remove your grips the serial number is always on the bottom of the grip frame.
Should start with 3 letters like BCD 12345

Also can you take a picture inside the crane where the model number is stamped?

THE MODEL IS AN 18-2 NOT 17-6 (SEE PIC). THE SERIAL NUMBER IS K4815-- IT DOES NOT HAVE 3 LETTERS. I HAD HEARD THERE WAS A HANDFUL OF THESE MADE? I WAS CURIOUS IF IT WAS TRUE
THANKS

I dont have the exact numbers, but I thought it was made form 1989-1990 and something like 7500 total guns, I think?( I have a 6 inch 17-6 but it has combats) I think the real rare ones where the 4 inch as the prices seem to be high.

I am sure I am not exact here though, an expert will chime in.....

A Model 18-2 (.22 Combat Masterpiece) with a serial number in the K481000 range would have been made in 1962, long before the barrel with the full underlug was available. I believe what you have is an 18-2 that has had a much more modern barrel fitted to it.

Both pictures are too blurry to make out but if the stamp says 18-2,
Then the gun had a newer barrel swapped onto it.
The 18-2 was only available with a 4" taper barrel with a Baughman ramp.

If you can take some clear pictures I would be interested to see if it has a pinned barrel and a frame thats cut for a taper barrel.
