Default Please help me with info about this HP 28-2

Hello,

New member here!

I have always loved S&W revolvers, but never got to own any until recently.

About two months ago, I lucked upon a 500 S&W in 8 3/8 and then last week, I picked up a good condition model 28-2 Highway Patrolman in blued with a 4 inch barrel.

The serial of the 28-2 HP is S2227XX

Can someone tell me something about it?

It has great color case hardening on the trigger and hammer, and bluing is 90%+. The only real flaw on the whole revolver is the ejector rod checkering has been marred after what looks like someone had pliers ahold of it. Is there a good source for parts for these guns used or new besides Numrich? The other little flaw is a little bit of rust that started a long time ago and was stopped on the top strap.....

Thanks in advance!

I have been trolling around quite a bit on here and thought I would finally join!

First off, welcome and congratulations!
You have a great revolver.

Messed up extractor rods are common. Luckily, they are readily available:
Direct from S&W: 05456B000 $6.97 X EXTRACTOR ROD - BLUE
Midway and Brownell usually have them, too.

Now...
