Help with born on date???

Picked up a great little pinned barrel 38 Special Model 60 at a gun show this weekend, serial #R91819 and wondering the year it was made.

It's a clean gun and my first Smith! Thanks in advance for the help!

Welcome to the Forum. The letter/number combo puts it as a late 1973 ship date, which is how the factory recorded guns. These sold very quickly then, so it was probably produced not long before this. Hope this is helpful, and enjoy!
