Who likes the 3" barrel? Any pics?
I just found a decent 10-7 with 3" bbl, from the mid 1970's, and am waiting for it to arrive in a week or so. I have most of the other barrel sizes, and I dont know why the 3" isn't more popular. It seems like a nice in between size, a little more than a snub, but still fairly compact. I was deciding between the J and K frame, and decided a model 10 would be a nice one to have in 3".
If anyone has any comments about the performance of your 3" S&W, or pics, please post. I'll get better pics after it arrives. Here's one of the seller's pics.

Just got my first 3 incher last week. Missed out on the Bud's blow-out, so this was late compensation, I guess:

I'm kind of fond of 3" K Frames
Model 10
Model 64
Model 65
A 3" Model 13 would round out the collection quite nicely...

I have a 3" model 36 and it is really a good shooter but my favorites are my Boston Police model 64's, one NIB and the other a 99% shooter.
It the picture below the 64's pose with their bigger brothers (ignore the handguns from the darkside on the right side of the photo)

I wanted a longer barrel but they are only made in 3". It turned out to be my favorite shooter. Much better balance.

Have a 19 in 2-1/2 and a 686 in 2-1/2 love 'em.This is the only 3 incher.657 no dash.Only drawbacks are the recoil with those grips and the price and availability of ammo.Other than that accuracy is great and as a carry gun it's not that bad.The wife will be peddling this when I take the dirt nap cause I ain't lettin it go.

Model 60 3" - although it's one of the newer ones with the dreaded IL, still well made and shoots good.

Your pics are getting me excited, as I just bought a 65-3 on gun broker a few hours ago. 3 incher of course! I have 2-4" K Frames, and a 6" M&P that is 92 years old. I hope that they (3 inchers) are what they are cracked up to be! Bob

You guys have some great guns! Thx again for all the pics. Maybe the 3" bbl is more popular than I realized, now I know where they all are. The proportions do make them great looking guns, IMO. Goin' crazy waiting for my 10-7 to get here.

Here are my only 2, 3 inchers on the left. Two Model 10's. Got them from J&G. Supposed to be French police trade-ins. Both showed some holster wear but the best I could tell they were not fired much. One of the advantages of living within driving distance of J&G. I don't have to shoot dice ordering and hope a decent one arrives to my FFL. I intended to buy one but after the sales person dragged out three. I wound up going home with the pair.

I'm a huge fan of the very accurate 3"-3 1/2" barreled S&W revolvers! They carry better than a 4" and for the experienced handgunners there's probably not let down in accuracy vs. a 4" service revolver length.

Greetings, All,
Thought I'd toss in a few 3" offerings, including one just a tad shorter, and one a bit longer. I have never taken photos of my 3" M36, but will soon, and will post them here. So, here goes:
First is my 3" M657 in a Kramer horsehide holster. Works perfectly together!
Second is just the 657. I bought this NIB, many years ago, for $300, and it's been a fantastic shooter, and still is! I have the original grips, too, but like the Pachmayer's better. VERY accurate with Remington's 210 gr JSP!
Third is a group photo, showing the 657, the Taurus m415, in .41, and also my Ruger stainless Bisley, also in .41. Can you tell what my most favorite handgun caliber is, Folks?!!
Fourth is my M415 in an old Bianchi Cyclone cross draw holster, and fits it fairly well, despite the fact that it is for my Speed Six, and the Taurus only holds 5 rounds. Works for me, anyway.
Fifth shows the little Taurus .41 without it's holster. Thanks for checking them out! I'll post photos of my little M36 when I can. Take care, and God Bless!
Every Good Wish,
Doc

Here's a pretty rare one. In my many years of collecting I have never seen another 3 inch, full lug, adjustable sight GP100. If any forum members own one I would love to see pictures.

Hey all, original poster here. Thx to all for the insight, and the great pics.
Just got my 10-7 in today, and made it to the shop just before 5 to pick it up. Everything checks out great, and tight. The couple of small nicks that looked visible in the pics ended up being barely noticeable in real life. Dates to January 1979.
The stocks are numbered to the gun, but I got the dealer to throw in a nice set of used diamond stocks that I may use on it.
Not the greatest pic, but this is it. I love the feel, balance, and look of it, and while I like the J frame snub for the pocket, the K frame 3 incher could quickly become one of my favorites for general purposes. Can't wait to shoot her.

Since brand "R" has shown up, here's the only "T" brand I've ever owned. Actually a pretty good shooter, too:
Model 441 .44 Special.

Those dark colored rb targets stocks look really sharp, the bluing and color case look great too. Thanks for sharing...
