Default adjustable sight for 17-5

i picked up a 8 3/8" 17-5 recently and she came to me scoped....i did not like the weight etc so the scope came off. I need to buy the rear sight for this gun and planned on posting a WTB in the classifieds.....what specifically should i be asking for to assure i get the right sight for my gun(sight height) etc?

Never a dumb question. You need to ask for a rear sight specifically for the 17-5. There is a difference in the length of the sight, square or round front, location of mounting holes etc. between models, so you need to be specific. Brownells may have some, or Numrich gun parts. S&W may also have parts for that model, it would be from 1988 period, so I doubt it but it never hurts to ask.
