I voted Model 19 but shouldn't the Model 66 be there too?

I voted M19. The 2.5" M19's are just going out of sight!
I voted model 29 since there really is no competitor. The 357 revolver class is kind of crowded but S&Ws are probably the best models although I bought a horsey 357 recently that I like a lot. 29s and the variants beautiful too. Not much else compares although I love my model 27s and my model 66 might be my favorite 357 esp as a multipurpose 357. Its hard to predict stuff like this.

The older model 29's are becoming quite a collectors item ( my vote). I found everyone likes them, especially the action. The workmanship is not like the Python though, in fact neither is the model 27. Regardless, ALL the older N frames are sweet shooters and always will be in demand but will never reach the dollar value of the Python.

i think any 3 inch n ,K L,frame, small production run numbers, will go higher,or any new in box,old stock, short barrel 19,66,586 ,as dai says.

I have a Python but am not that enamored of the breed. The styling of the full-lugged barrel with the vent rib is over the top. The factory walnut stocks don't fit me as well as any traditional Smith & Wesson stocks and even some other Colt designs. The Python's double action trigger doesn't "fit" my finger as well as the Smith & Wesson and isn't all that inspiring.
The 1950s era Colt 3 5 7 was the better looking revolver between the two.
The Smith & Wesson Model 27 is my favorite .357 Magnum revolver of all time.
The Python is one of the more available revolvers to be found on GunBroker. There's always a bunch of them available but they are just all overpriced. It isn't justified but folks have this notion to keep ratcheting the price upwards despite the availability. Some few pay it for NIB examples but many go begging month after month with no bids.

I would say none, since Colt revolvers like the Python, Peacemaker, etc. are inflated due to high demand and the "Colt" name itself. Even King Cobras,aka the "poor man's Python" which you could hardly give away 10 years ago are now going above $1,000 on GunBroker. $1,000 will still buy you a very nice Registered Magnum if you look around.
If I had to choose one that would be the "equivalent" to the Python as far as demand and value in the future, I'll agree with the above, the Registered Magnums and the Model 27's with desireable features, like the highly sought after 3.5" models.

I have never owned a Registered Magnum but I bought a Python in 1965 and carried it until 2 years ago when I gave it to my son as an early inheritance. My vote says a Python will always be the Rolls Royce of the pistols. Larry

I was really surprized to see fyimo vote for the 29 because I saw some pictures on a thread of his amazing Model 27 collection.
I have a friend that has a Python and I've personally never been that impressed with them.The darn cylinder release works backwards. There is nothing sweeter to me than a S&W.

I dont know if they will ever reach Python prices (some of that has to do with supply) but it seems from my less that scientific research that even non-S&W people are starting to recognize the quality finish and lockwork of the Model 27 and pre 27 guns. If Dirty Harry had carried a 27 instead of a 29 maybe they would be up there with the Pythons.
The 357 Magnum (prewar and postwar Pre27) are beginning to enter this category.
I've always wanted a colt diomondback 22lr with a 4'' barrel, but if I had cash in hand I'd go staight for the 5 screw model 27 3 1/2'' barrel, nickel or blue. never really thought about a python, I think their too fragile.

I voted 27's since I have already seen them going for $1K+... But I have seen 29's and 57's go for almost as much. If it has the pin in the barrel then you would think it's a instant $1K dollar gun around here in most places. Supply and demand I guess. They have the supply and demand you pay for it. And people are doing it. Not me though.
