It's a pretty good deal. Model 10 trade-ins sell around here for $150 to $250 so that is a very fair price for a model 64. Don't forget to add shipping and transfer fees to that price which still should come out less than three bills.

If I didn't already have two of them I'd pounce on that deal like a jaybird on a junebug. I still might!

Mine arrives tomorrow. Had my choice of lock or not, round or square butt, rubber or wood stocks.
Ryan there is extremely responsive and helpful.

looks like a pretty good deal. police trade ins are usually carried a lot but fired little. dont worry how it looks cosmetically model 64's are work horses. $209 is a good price. to be on the safe side contact the seller and ask...................................
please advise condition of: 1. bore 2. lock up 3. timing 4. forcing cone 5. area above forcing cone (flame cutting) 6. extractor rod 7. firing pin
Any rust and/or pitting on the frame, cylinder, bore, under the grips?
Any frame damage?
Which generation (i.e. 64-1, 64-5)?
models 64 (no dash) to 64-5 will have forged parts
model 64-6 will have MIM parts
model 64-7 will have an internal key lock
modl 64-8 will have a two piece barrel
do you want a round or square butt?

I bought a 10-14 from the same dealer, they seem like good people are the transaction was very smooth. The 10-14 shipped today, so hope I got a nice one!
FYI the dealer said most of the 64's are -5's and -6's, with a few non-pinned -4's mixed in. Seems like a good deal for some utility grade 64's. I might try to see if he has any -8's left, if not, I might go for a -6.

It's a good deal on a workhorse of a gun.
Don't forget to ask if the hammer is bobbed or not - depending on what you want. Many security and LE depts bobbed the hammers (removed, cut off or whatever, the hammer spur which renders them as SAO).

I don't think they are DAO, none of the pictured 64's are bobbed.
Even if some are, I doubt the -6's are DAO, since I have yet to see a MIM hammer that is factory bobbed and/or DAO.

Auburn, I would jump on 1 of those, but recently bought a 10-8, and a 65-3, 3". Heck of a deal in my book. From what I've read and heard, these were usually not shot that much, and are in good mechanical shape. Cosmetics are pretty to fix on a stainless gun. Let us know if you get 1. Bob

With some time and patience you can turn that 64 into a real jewel.
And have a great functional shooter too!
My 64 no dash after about 2 and a half hours of work.

Well I picked it up today and I am very pleased. :-) I have a local gun shop which does FFL transfers for free (Athen's guns), so it was $235 total including shipping!
When I walked in the guy behind the counter even said "Looks like you got a steal on this".
The one I got is a 64-5. It shows only little holster/carry wear, it has some minor "abrasions" in a few places, I can polish them out for sure. The wood on the grips is in great shape. I asked for one with police markings, this one has "42" stampled on each grip near the top and "09" stammped on the side plate.
It does look like it has seen some shooting, it has a small line on the frame between the cylinder and forcing cone, and the cyliner has some slight rotational movement. The bore looks in good shape.
I might buy another one.
One other thing - Is it ok to feed this a steady diet of .38 spl +P ? It only says ".38 S. & W. Special on the side.

Good for you!
I have a 64-5 HB and it can definitely handle the +P.

I ordered one of these on gunbroker also. Mine is in very good condition. I got a square butt with wood grips, its marked "44" on each side above the s&w medallion.
