629PC
Rotated this into the carry equation 4/15/12 for the duration of spring bear season. 629PC
Does anyone on here have a 629PC 12" barrel? I was winning an auction for one last year and lost out. Would love to add the 12" to my stash.

DesertFox, love the grips on that 8 & 3/8's. As you can probably tell from a lot of the pics I post, I'm a fan of the smooth presentation grips myself . . . .

Indeed. Very fond of both the grips and the longer barrel lengths myself.

Here's one of mine, a 629-4 rb with factory Hogues. Probably should have wiped it down first, it's better than it looks:

Here is my favorite, a -2 with a 6.5 inch barrel. I should update the photo, as the revolver now wears a set of smooth facory targets I found in a shop. I don't like checkered stocks with heavy recoil.

Bill,
I have some 3" guns, but granted, they were post 1979....
The first was a Lew Horton gun that I modified and carried for years....
The Performance Center made some 3" guns....
Horton produced a series of 3" guns (classics M24, M25, M29) in Nickel and blue:

New Favorite Load for my 4" 29-3
This little -3 is my favorite Model 29. As its not P&R the purists will likely scorn it.
Been wanting a mid-range load for casual paper punching.
Had tried a number of different ones with mediocre results.
Looking through a OLD Speer manual, I see several Green Dot loads.
GREEN DOT? That's a shotgun powder, isn't it?.
As the LGS had a can on the shelf, I figured what the heck.
Made up 10 each of several different loads.
Second one was a charm, 10 yards, offhand:
Note added: I traded a 21-4 straight across for this one a few months ago.
That 21 had been back to S&W twice for various defects and never shot a decent group.

Just got home from the range, where about 100 of these Keith's got lobbed in to paper. 6 1/2 inch 29-2, mid 1970s gun. Wiped down but not cleaned yet. It is time for it's annual side plate off cleaning and lube, so I'll wait 'til tonight for that chore.

Sad pic of a long gone 29-2 6.5", bought during the DH/Taxi Driver craze. Just one of MANY S&Ws that I have foolishly let slip out of my collection.
Sigh.

Here's my latest find, Model 29-2
Here's my 6-1/2" Model 29-2, ca 1972 (N750xx). Just picked it up 2 weeks ago at a local gun show. I've been looking for this one for a long time, but it was worth the wait.
