Stainless rear sight on 67?
I have the opertunity to purchase a minty, 3K serial number/first year mod 67 ( w box) for $400 OTD. What strikes me about this particular gun is that it has a totally stainless rear sight assembly. No black/blued parts on the sight at all. I don't recall this as being common on the 67. Thoughts? :-)

I have a 3K serial number one also with stainless rear sights and I love the gun.
That's the way they came for the first couple years, but a lot of LEO agencies and others complained about not being able to see the silvery sights in bright sunlight, so they changed to the blue. Personally I like them and have no problem with them. How many of us shoot in bright sunlight anyway? Also I think they will become a collectors item in the future.
BTW, I paid $400 OTD for mine too.

Thak you sir, Very helpful! I've owned several 67's throughout my on/off S&W revolver collecting. This is the first I've seen with this type sight. I may just to have to buy this one ;-)

That's a great price from what I have observed. They are great looking revolvers.

I also have the 3K serial number 67 with stainless sights.I like them. I had a model 66 with stainless sights years ago. It was the only S&W that I ever sold, but I have traded a ton of them.

I owned one as well.
Tapered 4" barrel and all stainless sights.
One that I shouldn't have let get away.
$400 is a very fair price.

Look at Engine49guy's picture #1. The other distinquishing feature is the stainless sighted 67s have serrations on the frame in front of the rear sight leaf, eliminated on the blued sighted ones. I like it, it's different.

You have good eyes Dick,
S&W stopped grooving the frame there about the same time they stopped pinning the barrel.
Have a few other K frames made after 1983 that are sans grooves as well.
