Default Model 10 grip question

I just picked up a model 10-6 nickel Smith square butt. Serial number C604xxx. I has pachmayr grips. I found a set of silver washer magnas at a local shop. The fit is terrible (1/8th inch too large). I was wondering if this gun needs the black washer/diamond magnas to be correct?

Correct, your gun is from 1962. Diamonds until 1968.

Thanks, I had assumed the grips would interchange. I was wrong again!

They SHOULD interchange, but there is always slight variations in grip frame dimensions over the years. Get a nice set of diamond magnas and they should work out for you.

Are you sure that the silver magnas you found that are too big aren't for an N frame? In my experience, K frame grips will interchange with a pretty good fit.

Hope this helps.

weeha1966, can you post a picture of the back side of the frames you have and we can tell you if they are for a K-frame?

Yes, they probably are. I just switched grips with another k-frame and it fit fine. I learn something new everyday!

Glad you found out, but you still need a set of diamond magnas to make your 10 period correct. Good luck.

Yep, I'm looking. From the prices i've seen, they're proud of them.
