31 years to go full circle
My first pistol was a Model 28 bought at Poffs in Terre Haute IN for $125.00 it was my 21st birthday gift to self. I sold it in 1974 and was able to buy this one today. Only difference is the shoe on the trigger. Now if I could find my 69 Road Runner , sorry for the poor photo I will post better later.

I understand completely. The first S&W I bought was a 4" Model 19 nickel with rosewood grips. When I got it home, it was poorly assembled (to say the least) So I took it back to the shop and they shipped it off to S&W and 8 months later it still hadn't been returned. I said "keep it" got a Dan Wesson instead and moved on. Not too long ago, I found this one - maybe not a screaming deal - but, I had to have it.
It won't get away again.
Congratulations on your new / old friend.

Congratulations I also bought a model 28 on my 21st birthday. It was my duty weapon until the sheriff got the county to purchase weapons in 1978. I sold it and soon regretted it. I also sold my model 10 snubby but tomorrow I pick up a new to me model 10 3" (a LEO. Trade in from down under). Not full circle but pretty darn close. ENJOY.

Great looking 28, but if you plan to use it in a holster, I'd recommend removing that trigger shoe. It sticks out enough it could catch on something.

Got it to the range
Indoor range 50 ft. Indoors as it is -47F here today. 5 shots in the big hole and one flyer. WW semi jacketed soft points full charge magnum. Had my forearms on a sand bag. So if anyone asks why an N frame? I have an answer.

If every one enjoys theirs as much as I do there will be an outbreak of sore faces from grinning.

Congrats, very very nice. Mine is setting on a shelf at the LGS hoping my next paycheck is big enough to bring it home.

cold, I'll bet you paid over $125.00 for this one!!! You did not mention what dash # it is. I got my 1st 28, 2 weeks ago, a no dash 1960. Shoots great! It came with pachs, and I changed to magnas. Did not like those, and put on the correct diamond targets that I happened to have for a couple of years. Enjoy your 28! (hang on to it this time!) Bob

It is a -2 I don't remember what my first one was as I really didn't know much other than it was a great gun at a good price. The current one was $400 with both grips.

Cold, that was a very good price! My no dash was $450, with pac grips. I am happy with what I paid. -2's were 1961, to 1982. Bob

I bought this one last Wed. I had posted a picture of a six incher that sold for $450 the Saturday prior at auction. I found this one talking about the auction gun.
